1% for Tarahumara Update #3

We’re honored to continue our partnership with True Messages, a grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the indigenous Raramuri (Tarahumara) peoples of the Sierra Tarahumara. To date, Earth Runners has donated over $195k to True Message to preserve the rewilded lifeways of the Tarahumara!

Thanks to your support, our 1% for Tarahumara donations have helped expand youth-focused programs in the region. This year, True Messages has added two more communities and schools to their circle of support, ensuring more Raramuri children can stay connected to their culture, language, and ancestral wisdom.

From sponsoring school supplies (for kids who often travel and stay for days at a time) to supporting local athletic events like basketball and traditional running games, the Korima shared by our Earth Runners community is helping to nourish both minds and bodies.

True Messages also continues to keep the sacred running traditions of the Raramuri alive. This past year alone, your donations helped make four Rarajipari games possible: one of which brought together the legendary runners of the Copper Canyons in what was likely the most competitive event of its kind to date!

Perhaps most heartwarming was this year’s Caballitos Run, where over 800 kids from across the Sierra were able to gather during the Ultra Marathon Caballo Blanco weekend. Many had to travel far to participate, but being able to run alongside national and international athletes left a lasting impression on their self-image and sense of pride.

None of this happens without a lot of behind-the-scenes love and effort– and that includes you!
