Earth Runners grew organically out of a need for ideal footwear in an age where shoes that actually promote health are hard to come by. The Earth Runners design is in a continual evolutionary flux through crowd sourced feedback and our persistent research development & engineering team. We strive to create eco-conscious sandals that allow for excellent adhesion to the foot, while facilitating natural articulation and connection to the earth.

One day founder Mike Dally found himself on a far out adventure with miles of rugged trails between him and his car. On his feet were flip-flops, a sorely inadequate footwear for traversing the rough terrain! Being an engineer and creative tinkerer, he emptied his pack and surveyed the tools at his disposal with dismay. Nothing seemed of use until he happened on an old roll of athletic tape that had been banging around in his bag for years. Could he use the tape to secure his sandals better? After some experimentation he settled on a design he liked and took off at top speed. Not only did his improvised footgear do the trick, it excelled! Mike became passionate about trail running in sandals and soon came across the super running Tarahumara Natives of the Copper Canyons who employed a simple, time-tested sandal design. The vitality of these barefoot runners set mike on the path of making barefoot adventure sandals that maintain our connection while allowing us to explore.

The Way of Barefoot

The Earth Runners team has continued to rewild our lifestyles ever honing in on a more ancestraly based approach to our health, happiness and community. As a result we have been spending more and more time in the dirt, outsourcing less of our movement to modern technology. This has involved traversing on foot ever greater distances over all of Earth's geology and hydrology to keep our soles strong and free. Barefoot protection such as provided by huarache sandals increases the range one in is able to cover, while maintaining proprioceptive acuity. The minimal and timeless huarache sandal design undoubtedly had a positive effect on successful hunting and the proliferation of our ancestry. Earth Runners offer balanced protection and ground feel featuring our grounded conductive laces™ that mimic the primal experience of being barefoot. We are honored to help preserve the ancient lifeway of living afoot while offering barefoot sovereignty to others looking to maintain their primal connection.

Bio

Mike Dally

michael dallyMichael has thoroughly enjoyed projects from a young age. From Lincoln Logs, to Legos, to draining excessive amounts of electricity through his parent’s converted garage workshop. He has always enjoyed the flow state achieved in creating some functional gadgetry to assist in his quest for growth and betterment. This disposition has lead him down the paths of health, fitness, and engineering.

Growing up in sports he regularly traveled the west coast playing outside midfielder for his soccer team. Nicknamed the kamikazi by his soccer coach, he ditched the pitch for a helmet to try his luck in the ritualized tribal combat known as football. Thriving from physical training in a team environment, Mike fulfilled his Libra disposition for balance and community in this high energy setting.

His love for sports transformed into a passion for the outdoors which has become the arena for his next phase of development. Attracted to the perspective and insight gained from living a more natural existence, Michael has embarked on a journey to rewild his lifestyle modeled after our ancient ancestors.

After wrapping up his sedentary responsibilities as a student Michael committed to a career, free of degenerative work environments. After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University he took a year off in pursuit of a vision. It was during this time that he received the inspiration to develop Earth Runners. Since its launch in 2012 Earth Runners has been leaving its footprint in the minimalist footwear marketplace. Now, Mike’s focus is to continue developing the sandal while building a team to propagate the #RewildBeFree lifestyle with fellow #EarthRunners worldwide.

Lauren Fisher

lauren fisherLauren has been passionate about the outdoors since a very young age. Growing up a single child, she found solace in the presence of nature and all living organisms. As she grew older, she spent all of her free time competing in sports, including soccer, cross-country, track, swim & water polo. These activities kept her restless soul busy and outdoors as much as possible. Influenced by societal pressure to have a steady job, she took an internship with the Senate in Washington DC and returned home to earn her degree in Political Science & Pre-Med from Long Beach State University.

After earning her degree, she began a sedentary unfulfilled life managing an office full time. Attracted to the unforgiving elements and the rawness of nature, she quit her 9-5 after two long years to spend more time backpacking in the mountains and free diving in the ocean. Leaving the office was a major turning point. It caused her to realize that her purpose in life involved more freedom, movement and creativity. She dabbled in the fitness industry, working as a personal trainer and nutritionist, but still found herself confined to being indoors.

With an open mind, Lauren was introduced to the documentary “Grounded.” Soon after learning the science behind earthing, she discovered Earth Runners and bought her first pair. Having only trained in Asics on her sponsored track and cross-country teams, she had always been taught that the more cushion and support the better. After experimenting with minimalist shoes while training and running, she now exclusively sports “barefoot” footwear, and her feet have remained happy and injury-free.
